Two Men Arrested In Connection With Artesia Homicide | Crime
Two men from Carlsbad were arrested Wednesday morning in connection to the murder of Timothy Wallace, who was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head in Artesia Tuesday.
Mathew Sloan, 28, and Senovio Mendoza, 29, were both charged with an open count of murder, aggravated burglary, robbery and tampering with evidence in the violent incident.
According to the Artesia Police Department, Mendoza called the police department stating he had information about a person having direct knowledge of the happenings in Wallace’s home. In a meeting with detectives, Mendoza implicated himself and Sloan as the killers.
In their statement, the two men said they went to Wallace’s home to get drugs, bursting through the door and falsely identifying themselves as Pecos Valley Drug Task Force agents.
Both men are being held without bond in the Eddy County Detention Center, each facing 15 years in prison if found guilty. A trail date has not been set.
According to the Artesia Police Department, more arrests concerning the case are probable.
